What is Thornæs Whiskey?
Thornæs Whiskey is brewed, distilled and matured in Kagerup, North Zealand. The whiskey is produced from 100% organically malted barley and rye and is processed as follows:
- Brewing: 16 hectoliters semi lauter
- Weekly brewing volume (Feb 24): 6500-7000 litres
- Water supply: Kagerup waterworks (medium hard)
- Fermentation: About 130 hours
- Distillation stills: 3 x 1000 liter alembic pot stills
- Distillation: Double distillation to approx. 71% alc./vol
- Maturation: 50-500 liter casks
- Filling strength: 58-64% alc./vol.
- Barrel types: New European oak, Bourbon, sherry, pinot noir, muscatel, port, STR barrels, etc.
- Total capacity at 71% alc./vol.: 40,000 litres

In the Far kitchen, our Argentine chef and grill master offers a range of menus that can be ordered for events. On the menu, you'll find everything from delicious grilled dishes and finger food to three-course knife-and-fork servings.
All with a focus on local ingredients from producers close to the distillery, as well as meat, fish, and game that have been raised, caught, or hunted in the area around the farm.
